Featured Bands and
Artists:
Nomadic
Design - In the tradition of wandering clans of musicians and revelers set upon a journey of exploration and creation, they are nomadic by design. consciously and unconsciously creating improvisational rock soundscapes for the head and the hips, always changing, always evolving. continually influenced by all that is seen and heard, the purpose becomes the experience. nomadic design is a band on the rise. These local Create A Vibe favorites will be hitting the road fresh from the recording studio, so keep an eye out for them, and show them some love when they come to your town.
Robert
Randolph - The music of Robert Randolph is more than just one
man playing a pedal steel guitar. It is more than just a band, a
family, on stage engulfing its audience with intense jams. It is a
unique style and a new genre of music altogether. Hearing it for the
first time, you get the feeling of meeting someone for the first time
and knowing instantly you've met a lifelong friend.
Melvin
Sparks - His career began in backing Sam Cooke, Little Richard, Jackie Wilson, Wilson Pickett, Marvin
Gaye, Solomon
Burke, The Supremes, little Stevie Wonder & others. Melvin's work is featured on over 100 jazz albums with artists such as Grover Washington, Jr., Lou Donaldson, Hank Crawford, Jimmy McGriff Jack McDuff and dozens more.
Recently toured with Karl Denson Tiny Universe and Robert Walters 20th
Congress.
The
Zen Tricksters - Formed 23 years ago, the Zen Tricksters' mission is to blend jamming
originals with tasty Dead nuggets to create sets you only dreamed about
hearing. Phil Lesh was so impressed with the band's ability to jam in the
studio that he tapped two members to be part of his Phil & Friends
collective. In an interview with Kenny T of radio station KGLT in 2000,
Phil said, "The Tricksters are more than just a cover band. They have their own stuff and they are brilliant, their stuff is brilliant. They
are great players!" The Zen Tricksters are the quintessential jamband.
Based in New York, they play nearly 200 dates a year while touring throughout the United States and Canada.
The
Code Talkers - Featuring Col. Bruce Hampton. Few are those whose music will tickle your fancy and kick your ass, fewer still the practitioners who choose to do both in ways that lovingly leave you in a better place for having had such an out of mind experience. Poet, philosopher, parlor psychic and vocal expressionist Bruce Hampton (AKA The Colonel) has been at it on the outside looking out, making music for better than 30 years now, long enough to make it a pleasure, sir, and also a custom.
Scarecrow Collection
- A great up and coming band from the Garden State. These guys play some good time, foot taping music, that always bring a smile to the those getting down on the dance floor. There eclectic sound has something for everyone.
